In Europe and beyond, it has been proven that investing in girls is the key to reducing global poverty.  An International Day of the Girl would recognise the particular challenges that girls face, and bring global focus to the “invisibility” of girls in the global development agenda.  It would also provide a unique opportunity to celebrate their potential as powerful agents of change.
